If spring is track & field, fall is the cross country season of the rowing world. The races are just as competitive as they are in the spring, but the distances are longer which requires a bit more strategy & a strong focus on technique. During the fall season we step back a bit on practices, only meeting four days per week & we attend fewer races. The time between regattas allows the experienced rowers more time to get in valuable mileage & become comfortable with the rowing stroke. Novice rowers are typically treated to beautiful weather & the ability to learn the proper form without the time crunch of regattas & the notoriously cold weather of the early spring.
