Carol’s Crew Supports Project A.L.S.
The Hines Rowing Center & Whitemarsh Boat Club have formed Carol’s Crew in support of founding member Carol Kleiner who is living with ALS. Our goal is to raise awareness of ALS & raise funds to support research for a cure through Project A.L.S.
WHAT IS ALS?
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a disease that targets motor neuron cells in the brain & spinal cord. As motor neurons die, a person progressively loses the ability to walk, speak, swallow, & breathe. ALS is usually fatal within 2-5 years of diagnosis.
WHY SUPPORT PROJECT A.L.S.?
Project A.L.S. identifies & funds the most promising scientific research that will lead to the first effective treatments & a cure for ALS. The new paradigm for brain disease research, Project A.L.S. recruits the world’s best scientists & doctors to work together- rationally & aggressively- toward a better understanding of the ALS disease process & better therapeutic strategies.
