Masters Technical Team
What is this team & Who is it for?
Our Masters Technique and Transition (TnT) Team is open to rowers of all levels. These sessions focus on technique and are designed to improve your skill level. We recommend this program if you recently learned to row, are feeling a little rusty, or if you are an experienced rower looking for a slower pace session where you can focus on improving your stroke. TnT requires, at minimum, completion of the WBC Learn-to-Row program, or other previous rowing experience.
What will you learn?
- Perfecting squaring and feathering – to be able to square prior to catching and feather after the release.
- The finer points of posture and body motion, such as holding the body angle steady in the second half of the recovery and first portion of the drive.
- Ratio and slide control.
- Team boat rowing skills: refining timing and unison.
- Learn how to go out on the water on your own or getting together with other rowers outside of coached sessions (bow certification required).
- 1x rowing in a gig.
- Navigating the river and becoming a better bow seat.
- Basics of boat use and care.
- Basic rigging skills.
Program expectations
- Regular attendance, to the extent that your schedule allows. Communicate with coaches if you must miss a scheduled session.
- Understand that this program is meant to graduate members up to the Club program. Coaches will make assessments at the end of each season and recommend advancement or re-enrollment in TnT.
