Elite rowing in the United States is limitedly funded by the USOPC and by USRowing. There are high standards athletes need to meet to be paid for the amount of time they dedicate to the sport of rowing, and the amount you can earn rowing is not enough to live off of. Our Black Sheep Racing Team practices 14 times during the week, dedicating about 20 hours a week to training. This amounts to half of a work week, so finding a job that allows our athletes to have this lifestyle is limited.
