Why Whitemarsh

Whitemarsh Boat Club offers year-round rowing opportunities for all Middle and High School athletes regardless of their experience level. The upper Schuylkill River here in Conshohocken is the perfect place to train for all athletes in the Delaware Valley. Our programs are designed so youth rowers of all skill levels have a place in our organization. Whitemarsh Boat Club has some of the best coaches on the Schuylkill River here to teach our athletes how to row and how to grow as an individual and as an athlete.
At Whitemarsh Boat Club, the results speak for themselves. Since 2018, nearly all our rowers who has aspired to row in college have been recruited—many by top-tier programs that recognize the exceptional training, mentorship, and community WBC provides. This success is not by chance but the result of a culture of excellence, hard work, and support.
Unmatched College Recruitment Success
WBC has a proven track record of helping athletes achieve their dreams of rowing at the collegiate level. Schools such as Stanford, Yale, Harvard, University of Washington, and countless others have consistently recruited WBC athletes. Even rowers who may not have initially caught the attention of recruiters have gained recognition through WBC’s outstanding coaching and network. These outcomes reflect not only the quality of our program but the personalized development our athletes receive.
A Winning Legacy
WBC is a club where championships are won and futures are built. Our athletes compete—and succeed—on regional, national, and even international stages. Beyond the trophies, though, WBC creates an environment where athletes learn the value of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance—skills that benefit them for life.
At Whitemarsh Boat Club, our name reflects pride, tradition, and a focus on excellence. It’s a name that colleges, competitors, and our rowing community recognize with respect and admiration.
Our Coaches and Staff
Unlike other programs, WBC prides itself on stability and consistency in leadership. Our coaches are dedicated to developing athletes over the long term, with a deep commitment to fostering a supportive environment.
Our coaching staff brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our Middle School Programs. Out coaches, with decades of experience in teaching the fundamentals of rowing, have a proven track record of helping new rowers develop their skills. Many of our athletes who start here move on to excel in competitive race teams and even high-performing college programs. Additionally, our team includes young, current college rowers who provide fresh insights and serve as inspiring role models, demonstrating the potential of rowing and offering valuable guidance to new athletes.
For those joining our race team, you’ll benefit from the continued excellence of the WBC legacy. Our Head Coach, Joe Sullivan, has a long history of leading teams to success at major regattas and pushing athletes to new heights.
Whether you are starting your journey on our Middle School Team, or aiming to competitive success with our team, our experienced and passionate coaches are committed to setting up each athlete for success now and in the future.
