Join us for the WBC Fall Technical Training Program!
This program offers middle and high school students (12-18 years of age) with some experience (learn to row, summer camp, and/or previous WBC program), who are not interested in rowing competitively, a chance to get out on the river with 2 coached practices per week for the duration of the fall season. The 2022 season kicks off on Saturday, September 10th and wraps up on Sunday, November 13th. This program will have a very similar structure to our very popular Summer Technical Training & the level of coaching will be the same. While you won’t be attending regattas* you will be improving with every practice & will also be working hard enough to maintain an aerobic base for the upcoming winter season.
*Technical Team Rowers are welcome to attend regattas as support to the Race Team. Helping with carrying boats, oars and equipment. Working at the regattas and cheering on our friends racing that day. See Fall Race Team for dates of Regattas.
Rowers participating in this program will be expected to:
- Attend practices two days per week, with any absences excused in advance (and kept to a minimum). Practices will be Saturday & Sunday, 1:15-3:15p (drop off no earlier than 1:00p, pick up by 3:30p) Depending on Registrations there may be a late afternoon session from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
- Be open to training in either sweep or sculling boats.
Practice in the fall is mandatory each day. If you have an unavoidable conflict (doctor’s appointment, school function, etc.) you should let your coach know well in advance. If you are NOT at school because of illness, you should probably NOT come to practice, but you SHOULD inform your coach of your absence.
Practice is RAIN OR SHINE at the Hines Rowing Center, if unable to row the team will participate in an on land workout.
Carpools are highly encouraged!
The fee for this program is $950 by check & $969.79 by credit card via our payments link (this includes the yearly $60 HRC facilities fee– anyone who participated in a program in 2022 at the Hines Rowing Center will have already paid the Facilities Fee). Any athlete who has rowed out of HRC in 2022* has paid the $60 yearly fee & will pay $890 & $908.57 by credit card via our payments link for technical training.
*Programs that have paid the 2022 HRC Fee include- Archbishop Carroll Crew, Germantown Academy Rowing, Radnor Girls Crew, Lower Merion Rowing, Mount St Joseph Rowing, Academy of Notre Dame, Gwynedd Mercy Academy, & all Whitemarsh Boat Club teams (technical & racing).
