Who is the Summer Middle School Team?

  • Middle School athletes (12 years old – 8th grade)
  • Experienced athletes only.
  • Athletes who want to improve their technique and form.
  • Athletes who want to be coached by top notch coaches in the area.
  • Athletes who want to learn without the stress of racing.
  • Athletes who want to prepare for the upcoming 2024-25 season ahead.


July 9 – August 15

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9:00-11:00 AM

Drop off begins at 8:45, and pick up ends at 11:15 AM

Meet Your Coaches

Susan Hermann Seybolt began her rowing career at the University of Texas in 1989, where she graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology. She went on to train and compete primarily in sculling after college, holding a number of coaching positions in the greater Philadelphia area. She enjoys coaching at all levels, having worked at high schools, universities and clubs, including: Vesper, The University of Pennsylvania, Episcopal Academy, Lower Merion High School, and Drexel University.

She was the head coach of Germantown Academy for 14 years. For the past 15 years she has focused on coaching juniors and masters out of Whitemarsh Boat Club in Conshohocken, PA.

An active volunteer and member of the broader Philly rowing community, Susan has participated as an organizing committee member in multiple regattas and has won multiple medals with her teams over the past 30 years.

The program fee for the Summer Middle School Team is $925. Payment to secure your spot on the team is due upon registration. All athletes will need to be a USRowing Basic Member ($25.00) to be able to participate. For siblings there is a $50 discount that will be applied. If this discount applies to you, please email the Youth Administration Team.

WBC believes that all athletes, no matter their financial status should have the opportunity to row. To aid athletes in this, WBC is pleased to offer a scholarship program for our youth athletes. If you believe you may qualify for this, please follow the directions on this form. The scholarship committee will review submissions and will contact you about your status.
