Location & Facilities

The Upper Schuylkill River has four miles of water that WBC trains on, between the Fayette Street Bridge and Flat Rock Dam. The normal river current is noticeable but is not an appreciable factor except after heavy rainfall. If the river is closed after a rainfall, the high waters pass through, and the river is usually opened a day or two earlier than downstream on Boathouse Row. There are a few other high school and college programs that WBC shares the water with, but the volume of rowers on our part of the river is much less than downriver, which creates longer stretches of good water to row on.

  • Parking
    • Our site has a large parking lot for all of our athletes, and we also provide boat trailer parking for our teams as well.
  • Boat Storage
    • The Hines Rowing Center has indoor racks for over 70 boats, ranging from team eights to private singles.
    • We also provide outdoor racks for our members.
  • Indoor Training
    • Our boathouse offers a spacious erg room, for when the weather doesn’t allow athletes to be on the water. All of our equipment is from Concept 2, and have regular maintenance done to keep them in the best condition all year round.
    • We also offer a few stationary bikes, if you find yourself needing to cross train.
    • We are in the midst of acquiring weightlifting equipment to supplement the athlete’s rowing.
  • Locker Rooms
    • We provide large locker rooms equipped with toilets, showers, and lockers for members’ use.
  • Cross Training
