Location & Facilities

The Upper Schuylkill River has four miles of water that WBC trains on, between the Fayette Street Bridge and Flat Rock Dam. The normal river current is noticeable but is not an appreciable factor except after heavy rainfall. If the river is closed after a rainfall, the high waters pass through, and the river is usually opened a day or two earlier than downstream on Boathouse Row. There are a few other high school and college programs that WBC shares the water with, but the volume of rowers on our part of the river is much less than downriver, which creates longer stretches of good water to row on.
